ABERGAVENNY conservative club hit a blip in their great start to the season with their first loss to date against Cwm Legion.

First to play was stand Brian Watkins who despite some reasonable long potting came unstuck against a more consistent potter to make it 1-0 to Cwm.

Darren Price was second to play and had a miserable game by his high standards and produced a well below par performance against a player that struggled to win the game on the blue.  Youngster Micheal Anderson was next to play and lost his first game of the season to a terrific potting performance by A. Williams brother of two time world champion Mark Williams.

3-0 to Cwm and with two frames remaining, captain Paul Thomas played an inspirational game with some crucial long potting and effective safety to come from 20 points down to clinch the frame on the black, making it 3-1 on the night, with Mark Davies last to play.

Davies started off slowly and his opponent produced some excellent long pots to go over forty points in front.

However, davies took full advantage of some loose safety with breaks of 25,19 and 18 to win the frame in style and gain what could be a vital point, making the score 3-2 to cwm on the night.

Captain Paul Thomas said, "After going 3-0 down so early, winning the last two frames was a massive bonus in our push for the league title."
