DAMIAN Cole and Craig Drew stormed to another convincing victory on last weekend's Trinity Hyundai Rally of the Midlands in round four of the Reis MSA Asphalt Tarmac Championship.

The Hinckley based event offered the 100 crews, 20 special stages at a variety of venues - including Stately Homes, Army Barracks, Mallory Park Racing Circuit, the Mira Test Track and a council car park

Friday night's action consisted of seven tests, starting with two tests at Arbury Stately Home, which was extremely slippery.

Cole, who did the entire loop on the wrong tyres but was still swapping times with rivals John Stone (Fabia WRC)and Simon Mauger (Escort RS), arrived back at the Hinckley overnight just nine seconds behind leader Mauger who had local co-driver Chris Butcher on the notes.

Saturday saw Cole straight on the pace from the word go, although a faulty launch control of the 05 Focus WRC was causing problems.

Yet despite a couple of spins and a big overshoot in Mira, Cole soon took the lead and was never challenged, setting seven fastest times on his way to a convincing victory and arriving  back at the finish in Hinckley town centre with a 53 second cushion over John Stone, with Simon Mauger third.
