A SEVEN year old girl has died following a road traffic accident on the Heads of the Valleys Road between Brynmawr and Gilwern.

The vehicles involved were a blue Peugeot carrying a woman and child and a silver Mercedes carrying two females which collided on the eastbound section of the A465

at 11am on Thursday, April 28.

All occupants were conveyed to Nevill Hall Hospital where the seven year old girl was pronounced dead and the woman in the same vehicle sustained serious head injuries, and currently remains in a life threatening condition.

The two occupants of the Mercedes sustained minor injuries.

Gwent Police is appealing for witnesses to the incident and anyone who may have seen the collision is asked to contact Gwent Police's Collision Investigation Unit on 01633 642404.
