FOLK?band Allan Yn Y Fan – often referred to as Wales' leading Celtic music band of the 21st Century - is to be among the performers at the Borough Theatre's traditional celebration of all things Welsh on St David's Day - Thursday,?March 1 at 7.30pm.
Promoted by A4B - the former Borough Theatre Management Committee - the concert will also feature local performers including a group of young musicians from Llantilio?Pertholey Primary School.
" For the first time last year we made the evening a celebration of all things Welsh," said A4B chairman Liz Davies.
"It was such a success that we've invited Allan Yn Y Fan back to do it all again,"?she added.
Making its fourth appearance at the Borough Theatre, Allan Yn Y?Fan is well known for its connection to the audience and a typical concert takes the listener on a musical tour of Wales – a journey that encompasses beautiful, delicate airs and sad songs through to full blooded jigs, reels and polkas and this concert will feature selections from the band's previous recorded work as well as music from its new album Pwnco.
Regarded as one of the country's leading folk groups Allan Yn Y Fan was recently described as 'inspirational' by Welsh legend Max Boyce.
This year's concert also features young harpist and singer Caitlin Prowle who is making her Borough Theatre debut.
The teenager was suggested to the organisers by musician?Jeanette Massocchi so comes highly recommended.
The concert also promises a special guest appearance from some well known local performers with their very own musical tribute to the Six Nations.
The concert takes place on Thursday, March 1 at 7.30pm and tickets for the Borough Theatre's St David's Day celebration are available now from the theatre box office on 01873 850805.
