ALMOST a hundred local business people attended the launch of the Y-Fenni Business Community at the Angel Hotel in Abergavenny on Tuesday evening.
Organised by Andrew Powell, landlord of The Grofield Inn and Lucy Hywel of That’s Lovely That, the organisation aims to give businesses in Abergavenny a voice and establish a network of communication and information for those running buinsesses in the NP7 area.
“The aim of the group is to promote Abergavenny for the good of its businesses and to unite businesses in the Abergavenny area,” explained Lucy.It is also hoped that a number of events can be organised during the year, with a town centre Easter egg hunt on the cards for the coming months.
The group will mainly be operated via social media with quarterly meetings, which it is hoped can be held at venues throughout the town.
“The meetings will have a strict time limit of one hour because I think one of the main thing which puts people off coming out to meetings is the thought they will be there for hours,” added Andrew.
The next meeting of the YBC takes place at The Angel on Tuesday, February 7 at 6pm and details of membership are available from Andrew or Lucy or via the Facebook page Y-Fenni Business Community.
