Abergavenny Business Club has put forward a suggestion to freshen up the town and have it painted and looking the part for the benefit of a vibrant community.

The business club suggests that the town could have a uniform appearance by using the same paint so that a discount can be obtained from the supplier for buying in bulk.

The business club has also suggested that a local painter and decorator could be employed to carry out the work, which could provide employment for a year, with funding obtained through the council on behalf of the town.

A spokeswoman said: "While the scheme is in its early stages, in theory it would reduce the cost to each landlord in painting their property."

The business club has also suggested that other organisations should be approached to sponsor the Hardwick roundabout to ensure an attractive entrance to the town.
