A BUS service in Abergavenny has been axed.
"Local residents are furious that the local 45a bus service around Underhill Crescent has been axed after 2.30pm. This has left people standing at bus tops wondering where on earth the bus has got to", said County Councillor James George.
Councillor George said he was irate to discover that Monmouthshire County Council officers had meetings with Stagecoach, the operator, to axe the afternoon service round the estate in the north of the town.
In a response to the complaint, the Managing Director of Stagecoach for South Wales says that they held discussions with council officers and they agreed that the service could be axed.
"People inside the council were in the know about axing this well used and popular bus service. No one ever thought to consult local people about losing their link to the town centre", he said.
Councillor George is asking for the afternoon service to be restored.
