Abergavenny-based entertainer Bryn Yemm and his wife Ann popped into the Chronicle offices this week to hand over a cheque for £2,000 to members of the National Eisteddfod fund-raising committee.
The donation was from the proceeds of Bryn’s concert at the Borough Theatre in the run-up to the Eisteddfod.
“I thought it would be nice to invite the Abergavenny Chronicle’s ‘Tindle-ites’ to help me hand over the cheque,” he joked.
Bryn’s next engagement is an evening of inspirational music and song - ‘Taste of Revival’ - featuring Dai Davies and the Abergavenny and Cwm Salvation Army Bands at the Ebbw Vale Institute on Friday October 7 at 7pm when he will sing many of the inspirational songs from his albums, illustrating them with examples from his own life experiences and the people he has met. Dai Davies will lead reflective prayer and the combined Abergavenny and Cwm Salvation bands will open the evening.
“This will be a special evening for all ages, for all faiths and none,“ said Bryn. “We all have moments that change our lives, happy moments, tragic moments; but each of us draws upon an inner strength to continue to meet the challenges life places before us – mine is centred in my faith and I appreciate other people find their strength elsewhere.
“This evening celebrates those who been an inspiration to each of us.”
For tickets at £7 (concessions £5) call the Box Office on 01495 708022.
Later in the month Bryn will be recording a CD of traditional and modern gospel music from around the world with Salvation Brass.
“It’s a very exciting project for me, because it’s taking me back to my roots,” he said.
Meanwhile UCB are completing a one-hour TV documentary on Bryn’s life and times at their studios in Stoke on Trent, ready for Christmas release to thirty countries. And there’s also a new book in the pipeline entitled, My Tribute Volume 2 - the Bryn Yemm story.
