THE Parkinson's Disease Society has received a financial boost thanks to a donation of £2,130 from the outgoing Mayor of Brynmawr's charity appeal. Throughout his time in office, Councillor Peter Morgan has been raising money for the charity as part of his appeal. He explained it was while he was serving as deputy Mayor he decided to support the society. "I received an invitation from a local Parkinson's sufferer to a charity function to raise money to fund another professional Parkinson's nurse in Gwent. "After that I said I would make it my charity and I have fulfiled my promise," Councillor Morgan said. "I would like to thank the Town Council and Borough members throughout the county, I would also like to thank the local organisations, chapels and churches and all the schools in Brynmawr for supporting me. It has been outstanding." As well as presenting money to the Parkinson's Disease Society, Councillor Morgan presented a donation of £1,000 to the Lord Mayor of Cardiff's charity appeal, which was also raised during his time as Mayor.
