BOG Bug siblings Ellie and Arunn Jones were recently left 'breathless' after competing in the World Bog Snorkelling Championships held at Llanwrtyd Wells at the tail end of last month.

The Goytre brother and sister act, who are aged nine and 14 respectively, were the youngest competitors at this 'bog-standard' event, where entrants have to swim 120 yards through thick peat at freezing temperatures.

On the day the weather was extremely unkind as severe rain buffeted by strong winds lashed down on everyone present.

Ellie and Arunn were first up to brave the harsh conditions and jump into the mud, all in the name of raising money for Ty Hafan Hospice - a charity that supports and gives care to life limited children and their families.

After their gruelling trek through the swamp of antiquity was over the children explained that it was a very cold bog and you couldn't see a thing. At times it literally took their breath away, but the thought of raising money for charity gave them the tenacity to tackle the task at hand admirably.

The Bog Bugs raised nigh on £500 for charity and proud mother Angela Jones told the Chronicle, "Both Ellie and Arunn put so much effort into organising the whole thing and acquiring sponsors. I am very proud of them both."
