THE body of a man in his 20s was discovered in the disused toilets in Bailey Park on Sunday.

Local police were alerted to the incident when the man's mother, who had been made aware that her son was acting strangely, found him after a search of the park.

The area was cordoned off by police officers who knew that the man from the Pontypool area was a drug addict. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police are not treating the incident as suspicious and a post mortem is being carried out.
