‘HARD working staff who always go the extra mile’ are the key to success according to judges from the Farmers Guardian who awarded the cafe at Raglan’s Monmouthshire Livestock Centre the accolade, ‘Market Cafe of the Year’ for the second time in three years.
The cafe opens on auction days - Mondays and Wednesdays; the victory comes following a public vote and a visit from a mystery customer who reported back to the adjudicators.
Maria Bayliss and her team were congratulated on serving local produce and nutritious farmhouse style meals at an affordable price to farmers who come to trade, eat, socialise and also catch up on the latest rural gossip. Favourites in the cafe include Jo’s Victoria sponge and the local roast beef lunch.
