Police are appealing for information following an assault on a teenaged boy in Albert Road, Abergavenny on Monday (April 21). The 14-year-old was walking from Alexandra Road into Albert Road when he saw three males nearby at about 12.30pm. As he got halfway down the road one of the males ran past him, turned and shoved him into another standing behind him. This second man then punched him in the face. They both ran off and got into a car which is believed to have been driven by the third male. The first male is described as white, 16-17 years old, 5'10"-5'11" tall and of medium build. He had a thin nose and was wearing a black zip-up hoodie (hood up) with white 'graffiti' writing on it, dark grey baggy jersey jogging bottoms and scruffy white trainers.  The second male is described as white, 17-18 years old, 6' tall, of skinny build, wearing a mid-grey pull-on plain hoodie (hood up) and dark grey jersey baggy jogging bottoms. This male had a cut under the right side of his jaw about 3cm in length that appeared fairly fresh.  The third male is described as white, 17-18 years old, of medium build, wearing a purple zip-up hoodie with white writing on it, dark grey 'NIKE' jogging bottoms and white baseball cap with black 'NY' logo on the front. The car is described as a small, black hatchback (described as Fiesta size) with silver wheels.  The incident is being treated as a racially motivated assault. If anyone has information they are asked to call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log 187 21/4/14. Local County Councillor John Prosser said, "In Abergavenny we live in a relatively safe community and incidents of this nature give us cause for concern. "I appeal to the community to be vigilant and if they see any untoward behaviour to report it immediately to the police. "We operate a neighbourhood watch scheme in the town and I would encourage members of the community to join the scheme and assist police in any way they can." He added, "Hopefully this is an isolated incident. "We need to be sure our young children are safe when out walking. "As this happened in my own ward, I would be willing to meet with and talk to anyone with any further information at any time."

Bus station assault investigated   Police in Abergavenny are also appealing for information after a man was assaulted close to the public toilets at Abergavenny Bus Station at 11.40am on Saturday April 12. The 21-year-old victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault. The offender is described as white, tall, skinny build, wearing a black baseball cap and blue jacket. Anyone with information is being asked to call 101 quoting log 265 12/04/14.
