Abergavenny Museum will be running art history classes in the New Year led by popular local tutor Eleanor Bird.

The informal and enjoyable ten-week course will suit all abilities and interests - covering prehistoric cave paintings to the works of the 20th century. No homework will be assigned unless requested!

The course will run on Wednesday mornings from 10am to 12noon from January 20 until April 12 for ten sessions, with breaks during half term and Easter.

Monmouthshire County Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for museums, Councillor Bob Greenland said, “This fascinating new course delivered by the museum will explore the creation of art over two thousand years, how it evolved and how it reflected the spirit of its age. It is suitable for beginners, enthusiasts and connoisseurs and will encourage us to look at paintings in a new light.”

Telephone the museum on 01873 854282 to book a place or for further information. The course fee is £100. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come basis.
