PUPILS AT Ysgol Y Fenni were delighted to receive a visit from Archdruid, Myrddin ap Dafydd last week.

He was last in Abergavenny during the Eisteddfod in 2016 and was delighted to make a return visit to a town close to his heart and spent the afternoon teaching his craft to children at Ysgol Y Fenni, showing them how he develops his poetry.

It was an exceptional opportunity for the children and school staff to meet an inspirational poet whose work is widely read and all said that the chance to work alongside him was an experience they will never forget.

Myrddin, who is a highly respected writer and poet holds the office of Archdruid in the Gorsedd - a position only former winners of the Crown or Chair qualify to occupy. Later in the day he took time to share more of his experience with more mature members of Abergavenny’s community when he joined the Cymreigyddion with David and Ruth Roberts for supper, followed by a cheese and wine event with members of the wider community who he regaled with tales of his career.

Myrddin enjoyed time in The Angel with his wife Llio before heading back to the Lleyn Peninsula.
