Monmouth AM Nick Ramsay attended a presentation by Ofgem at the Welsh Assembly earlier this week and learned that up to 68% of households in Monmouthshire could be missing out on energy savings of £327 a year.

Many households in Wales are still on standard tariffs and could well be better off moving to a fixed deal.

“I would urge all my constituents to go energy shopping this winter,” he said.

“Ofgem has strengthened consumer protection for those choosing fixed tariffs and their ‘Be An Energy Shopper’ website gives independent advice on how to get a better energy deal with links to Ofgem-accredited switching sites.

“It’s now easier than ever to find the best deal, and you could save up to £327 a year just by switching from a standard tariff to a fixed deal.”
