Monmouth AM Nick Ramsay has written to the Welsh Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure, Ken Skates AM, asking for an explanation for the lengthy delay in the commencement of remedial works on the A4042 at Llanellen Bridge.

Speaking today, Mr Ramsay said, “It is over two months since I received a letter from Mr Skates stating that the long awaited remedial works to prevent flooding at Llanellen Bridge would commence before the winter period.

“Constituents have contacted me again this week to point out that there is still no sign of the work starting although the winter is upon us once again.

“I have written to the Minister to ask whether there is any likelihood of the work beginning before Christmas this year and, if not, what is causing this long delay.

“Local residents are understandably fearful of facing another winter of road closures should we get a period of prolonged heavy rain. This has gone on far too long.”
