THE team behind the duelling of the A465 have announced further work at the Glanbaiden roundabout at Gilwern which begins next week.

"We would take this opportunity to inform you of a proposed change in the A465 road layout at the Glanbaiden Roundabout. Over the past few months the western side of the roundabout has been closed to traffic to allow our engineers to construct the western bridge abutments and the work has progressed extremely well," said a company spokesman.

"Just before Christmas the closure moved to the eastern side of the roundabout and whilst the closure was lifted for the Christmas break, it was reinstated from January 4 2016.

"As a result, traffic from Gilwern wishing to travel westbound (towards Brymawr) on the A465 will be officially routed to the Hardwick roundabout to return via the A465 to Glanbaiden.

" Similarly traffic wishing to enter Govilon from the westbound exit of the roundabout will be diverted back onto the A465 to the Hardwick roundabout and then return.

From Monday, January 11 in addition to the closure on the east side the west side will also be closed and both sides of the roundabout will remain closed until end of April 2016 as the construction of the bridge continues.

In consequence the arrangements that were in place for the west side closure will be reinstated with traffic seeking to enter Gilwern having to travel to the temporary roundabout near the site offices and return to the Glanbaiden roundabout to exit for Gilwern.
