LAST week it happened! Parliament finalised the world's first climate change law, which will force the government of the day to secure year-by-year cuts in UK greenhouse gas emissions.
The law would not have been passed without the campaigning of ordinary people and organisations like Friends of the Earth. Local MPs David Davies (Monmouth), Roger Williams (Brecon & Radnor) and Dai Davies (Blaenau Gwent) have given their full support.
And newspapers like The Abergavenny Chronicle have always been ready to give coverage to the campaign.
Government and individual people now need to take urgent action on climate change locally and in Wales. But readers will also be aware of the critical need to agree cuts in emissions at international level.
They should therefore email / write to politicians, including UK Foreign Ministers and MEPs, asking them to help put Climate Change to the top of the international agenda.
