What is Abergavenny’s link with Buckingham Palace, who is Walter Morgan, why did Abergavenny clash with King William and just who was ‘Bloody Mary’?

Find out the answers to these and many, many more intriguing questions when a cast of well known local performers takes you on a whistle-stop tour of more than 900 years of Abergavenny’s roller coaster history through popular music and songs in Abergavenny Chronicled! - a brand new show performed in aid of the Abergavenny Chronicle’s Sir Ray Tindle Fund.

Set up last year the fund gives out grants to local good causes and all profits from this show will be distributed among organisations in The Abergavenny Chronicle’s area.

Written by Chronicle editor Liz Davies with musical direction by Sarah Fowler, the fast paced show features some of Abergavenny’s best known performers including A4B award winners Cecilia Balwer, Molly Brickley Clark, Patrick Callaghan, Sarah Phillips and Luke Williams.

Also taking part will be Alys Le Moignan, who recently claimed the prestigious NODA award for best performer in the Wales and Ireland region for her role as Deloris in AAODS’ Sister Act, which also won best production and for which Sarah Fowler was musical director.

“ With such an illustrious group of people working together on stage what can possibly go wrong?”?joked Liz.

“We’ve tried to put together a fun, yet informative show, which will give an alternative view of our town with some good music thrown in,” she added.

Covering almost a millennium of history in just two hours, the lighthearted show promises something for everyone and includes music from Abba to Disney, Ivor Novello to Irving Berlin and Ed Sheeran to The Stray Cats!

"The great thing for us is that all the money we raise will be handed out good causes in the Abergavenny Chronicle’s area, so it’s our chance to give something back to the community," she added.

"Last year thanks to the fund raising efforts of Chronicle staff we handed out £2,000 in small grants and it would be wonderful if we could match that amount this year."
