Abergavenny Town Council have completed their donation to the Eisteddfod when the Mayor , Councillor Maureen Powell handed over a further cheque for £10,000 to local fund-raising committee chairman David Roberts and treasurer Mavis Griffiths at a meeting in the town hall on Thursday evening. This completes the total contribution of £30,000 from the town council to the Eisteddfod.
Mr Roberts thanked the council for their strong support of the Eisteddfod. He noted that they are hopeful of reaching their target fund-raising total of £100,000 before the Eisteddfod comes to town in August.
Abergavenny, Usk and Raglan are doing well with fund-raising but unfortunately the rest of the county of Monmouthshire is not keeping up with them.
Councillors were pleased to hear of the fund-raising success in this area and hoped that the south of the county might catch up before the Eisteddfod comes.
