Abergavenny poet Owen Sheers has been confirmed as one of dozens of personalities who will be attending the Welsh BAFTAs this weekend.
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts in Wales, BAFTA Cymru, has revealers some of the nominees, presenters and other attendees of Sunday’s British Academy Cymru Awards, which takes place at the St David’s Hall in Cardiff, Wales.
Stars of the big and small screen are set to attend the BAFTA Cymru ceremony that honours excellence in broadcasting and production within film and television in Wales, and will be joined by a host of famous faces from across the worlds of theatre, music and sport.
DJ and presenter Huw Stephens will be hosting the ceremony, at which the stars of Welsh-made television dramas – including Doctor Who, Hinterland/Y Gwyll, Casualty, Y Streic a Fi, Broadchurch and Parch, some of which are nominated for multiple BAFTA Cymru awards this year – are expected to attend.
Those expected to grace the red carpet include, but are not limited to, Mali Harries and Rhian Morgan (nominated in the Actress category), Rhod Gilbert, Gruff Rhys, Celyn Jones, Kevin Allen, Mal Pope, Jamie Baulch, Connie Fisher, composer Karl Jenkins, presenters Andrea Byrne, Jonathan Hill and Aled Samuel, actresses Sharon Morgan, Nia Roberts and Catherine Ayres, Game of Thrones and Call the Midwife Director of Photography Chris Seager and poets Gwyneth Lewis and Owen Sheers.
Presenters and other attendees confirmed to date include James Dean Bradfield of the Manic Street Preachers, Craig Roberts (Just Jim, Submarine), Kimberley Nixon (Fresh Meat), Alexander Vlahos (Merlin, The Indian Doctor), Russell T Davies (Doctor Who, Cucumber), Tom Rhys Harries, Aneurin Barnard (Cilla, The Scandalous Lady W, The White Queen), Matthew Gravelle (Broadchurch), Scott Quinnell, Lee Mead (Casualty) and Paris Barclay (director of the Bastard Executioner, ER, Glee and The Shield).
The evening’s entertainment will be provided on stage by singer-songwriter Amy Wadge and Only Men Aloud and during the drinks receptions by the RT Dixie Band, Seren Winds Quintet and DJ Cian Ciaran of the Super Furry Animals.
The ceremony will be produced for the first time by David Mahoney, who is best known for his work as a producer of live music events, various television programmes and as a member of Classical Brit Award winning vocal ensemble Only Men Aloud.

Some 28 programme, craft and performance categories feature in the 24th annual British Academy Cymru Awards, honouring excellence in broadcasting and production within film and television in Wales between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2015.
