THE oldest amateur pantomime company in Wales is back on stage at Abergavenny’s Borough Theatre next week as it stages its traditional half term extravaganza - the swashbucking adventure Treasure Island.
Founded back in 1932 the company has an almost unbroken record of performing at the Borough Theatre and this year won the keenly contested A4B?award for best production for its 2018 show - Jack and the Beanstalk.
Final rehearsals are now underway for Treasure Island with the cast including Stephen Clark who returns to the company after a short break to play the evil Long John Silver.
He is joined by 2019 A4B best supporting actress award winner Andrea Marfell who is playing the Ringmaster, best actor Andrew Fowler and best actress Chelsea Viveash who appear alongside Miranda Newsam as Polly the Parrot and Axel Bawler as Billy Bones. To the delight of the cast and audience alike this year’s show will also include a cameo from former King’s Head landlord Ken Watkins.
Also making his traditional appearance as the panto Dame will be the winner of the A4B Judges' award Ken Jones.“Rehearsals are going really well and the whole team is very much looking forward to a first class production providing top entertainment for all ages,” said APC secretary Geraint Webb.
Panto lovers can set sail for Treasure Island at the Borough Theatre from Monday February 25 to Saturday, March 2, with two matinees on Friday and Saturday.
Tickets are available from the Box Office 01873 850805 or from the Borough Theatre website and are priced from £5 to £7.50.
