KEITH Davies may be well known for his fundraising exploits as Elvis and the Mafia but the local electrician recently turned to his Harley Davidson for his latest money raiser.

The Abergavenny man raised over £1,500 for charity by travelling on his motorbike to Switzerland from Abergavenny through countries like France and Italy.

Keith was joined by five friends on the five day trip that started in Abergavenny and included a ferry trip to Calais.

They completed the journey in varying weather conditions with atrocious weather for the first two days and the last three days spent in 32 degree celsius heat - although temperatures soon fell through the Swiss mountains which even included snowfall.

The idea of the fundraising for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust was after Keith's wife Melanie had a nail session done with Amanda Hoyle.

"Amanda's late father, George Pinch, died from the disease and after mentioning it to my wife the idea was put into practice," said Keith

"I contacted some friends in business and asked them to pledge money towards the fund.

"The businesses that donated included Homes Of Elegance, The Codfather chip shop, Kolvox, Shackletons, Mayzmusic, Mirage,Black Mountains Llangattock, Premier Stores, Richards and a donation was also made from by a friend which was much appreciated.

"I would also like to thank my five friends Bryn Wiltshire, Raymond Davies, Alan Davies, Andrew Woodhouse and Mike Meadowcroft who were a bundle of laughs all the way, a great bunch of guys and are the real 'Wild Hogs," said Keith.
