THE sun made a welcome appearance on Saturday (July 14) as hundreds of people gathered to enjoy the annual Abergavenny and District Carnival and the day of entertainment at the town's Bailey Park.

Float Winners: Overall winner, Dancemaster as Bugsy Malone; Best Children's Float, Dan Y Deri; Best Adult Float, Coffee Cart; Best Club, The Cubs and Beavers celebrating 100 years of scouting.

Walking Winners: Best Boy, Cyber Man; Best Girl, Flamingo Dancer; Walking Group, Cantref School; Best Dressed Window, Richards.

Poster Competition (Run by Aneirin Bryn): Ysgol Gymraeg Y Fenni.

The Carnival Committee invites all winners to attend the prize giving ceremony on Friday, July 20 at 7.30pm in the Abergavenny Labour Club.

The Carnival Queen, Nicole Tucker, will be presenting the prizes while Skool of Rock and AM Disco will be providing the entertainment.
