ABERGAVENNY put their recent poor performances behind them as both the MBA and GBL teams recorded victories in their respective games on the weekend

At the MBA match at Llanhilleth, Abergavenny were successful on three rinks to win by 82 shots to 69.

Gethin Hill's rink took command from the start, and never looked like losing their advantage, to win by 20 shots to 11. The rink of John Beaton was six shots down after three ends but gradually overcame the deficit to take command in the second half of the game and win by 20 shots to 17.

After a shaky start Robert Poynter's rink took control of their game. Although conceding four shots on the final end, they won by 26 shots to 22. The rink of Mathew Vale was ten shots behind after seven ends. They gradually reduced this deficit and were holding five shots on the penultimate end. However, the Llanhilleth skips final bowl converted this to a two shot advantage, enabling them to go on and win the game by 19 shots to 16.

At Avenue Road in the GBL fixture against Gilwern, Abergavenny won on two of the three rinks to win the game by 62 shots to 54. The rink of Gareth Jones took command from the start to build a commanding lead, which they never conceded, to win by 26 shots to nine.

Bill Belli's rink was three shots behind after ten ends, but hey then took control in the second half of the game, scoring twenty-one shots and conceding only two, to win by 27 shots to 11. John Marsh's rink never got into their game after conceding eleven shots on the fifth and sixth end. The were eventually defeated by 34 shots to nine.

This Saturday both teams play against Newbridge. The GBL team at Newbridge and the MBA team at Avenue Road.
