A police office was allegedly assaulted during a attempted break in at a farm in Llanddewi Skirrid on Tuesday evening.

At approximately 5pm on Tuesday a green Ford Focus, number plate X757JHR was captured on CCTV acting in a suspicious manner and a number of men were seen breaking into a barn and leaving with items.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning the same vehicle returned to the the farm and attempted to steal a truck.

During this incident a female police officer was assaulted.

A man was arrested a short time later and enquiries are now being made in an effort to find other people who may have been involved.

Gwent Police have are asking any local farmers if the Ford Focus involved in the incident visited their farm in recent days and if so is any CCTV showing this vehicle available?

“Please be mindful, all farms are targets for these thieves, consider CCTV if you don’t have any. or other forms of security,” said a spokesman for Gwent Police.
