POLICE raided a cannabis factory in Usk where they seized plants and growing equipment.
Five officers swooped at an address in Bridge Street last Wednesday morning.
They spent five hours at the property where they found 12 cannabis plants and hydroponics growing gear including extractors and foiled tubing.
A drugs warrant was executed at the address at 11am.
The dramatic arrival of officers in the heart of the town caused some excitement with shoppers.
One likened the rush to the scene as ‘like something out of the Sweeney.’
The targeted address was not occupied at the time.
Police say inquiries are continuing.
No arrests have so far been made.
One witnesses to the raid said, “I couldn’t believe it as nothing ever happens in Usk.”
Chief inspector Mick Moyles, of Gwent Police, confirmed that his officers discovered ‘a small cultivation of cannabis’ at the property.
He added: “We had to make sure the premises were safe in terms of power supply. The power supply can often be bypassed before entering a premises.”
Officers left the scene at 4pm.
