A driver airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales following a road traffic collision near Blaenavon earlier today, has died.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said,"We are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on Garn Yr Erw, near Blaenavon, today.

"The collision, which occurred at about 12:15pm, involved a Silver Renault Megane and an Iveco Flatbed Lorry.

"The driver of the Renault Megane, a local man aged 26, was killed and the driver of the lorry received minor injuries.

"The family of the deceased are being supported by specialist officers.

"Could anyone with information please contact Gwent Police on 101 and quote incident 171 of the 30th September 2016.
