Firefighters race to scene of fire which had been extinguished a day before

Fire crews tackling a fire on grassland near the Heads of the Valleys road were called back to the scene of the incident yesterday after the blaze reignited.

The fire, which covered an area in Nantybwch, near Tredegar, had been fully extinguished the previous day when crews from Ebbw Vale and Aberbargoed attended the scene. Firefighters from Tredegar were already attending an incident on Manmoel Road.

The remaining hotspots flared up in the dry and warm conditions, and teams worked together to bring the area back to safety and prevent further spread.
