Emergency services have left the scene of the incident at Llanfoist after a wide scale search following reports of a person in the River UskA statement from the Severn Area Rescue Association at Newport said, “Tonight a tasking from Gwent Police and Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub De Cymru / South Wales Fire and Rescue Servicesaw a wide scale response from multiple SARA stations to reports of a person in the River Usk at Llanfoist near Abergavenny.”“A multi agency response including support from Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter Rescue 187 from St Athan led to a search of the area.”“Nothing has been found and SARA resources have now stood down.”THE police helicopter and emergency services were attending an incident near the bridge at Llanfoist on Wednesday evening.
Rescue divers were understood to be in the water although what they were looking for is currently unknown.
The road remained open to traffic.
