GWENT police have confirmed they are following up concrete leads after youths in a white Astra van shot a duck on a pond in Llanelly Hill.

Officers from Blaenau Gwent visited the owner of the ducks, pensioner Ray Alexander, and took away evidence which could lead to identification of the suspects.

Blaenau Gwent Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant, Chris Pigeon explains, ‘We can confirm we have received a report of a duck being shot in the Llanelly Hill area on Sunday 7th October 2018 which is currently being investigated by our teams in Blaenau Gwent.

‘Crimes of this nature will not be tolerated and we are now following all lines of enquiries. If anyone has any information on this crime, please contact us on 101, quoting log number: 158 07/10/18.’
