Abertillery Bluebirds FC - 2

Abergavenny Town clung tenaciously to their unbeaten tag with a close run affair against Abertillery Bluebirds on the 3G surface at Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre.

The opening 25 minutes was a very even until up popped Dan Jenkins to open Town's account with a fierce drive.

It was Jenkins again, two minutes later who nearly increased the lead, only to see only to see his effort cleared off the line.

This was an important save as Bluebirds equalised with their next attack.

Town opened the second half brightly with Dan Barnard, Jamie Laurent and Aaron Norman all having decent efforts saved, but Town's progress was dented when halfway through the half Bluebird's Kear broke free and side footed past Indge as they took the lead for the first time.

There were some worried looks in the Town camp but when Craig Norman latched on to a loose ball in the box he made no mistake in bringing his side level to ease some pressure.

With time ticking away it was left to the ever dependable Dean Morgan who struck what proved to be the winner six minutes from time, and although there were some nervy moments Town held on to claim all three points. On Saturday Town travel to Newport Corinthians (2pm kick-off.)
