ABERGAVENNY will be represented by not one, but two cyclists at Glasgow's Commonwealth Games. Double world champion Becky James and Becky's sister, world champion para cycling pilot Rachel James, will both be joining the Team Wales cyclists in their bid for medal glory. Becky will start among the favourites in the track sprint events, while the principality also boasts a strong track endurance squad headed by world team pursuit champion Elinor Barker. At the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome next month, 22-year-old Becky will hope to weave a little bit of something special, and two-time Olympic champion Geraint Thomas will no doubt be hoping for the same thing on the road. Thomas and the two James sisters form a strong Welsh cycling team that alongside Barker, also includes world cup medallists Jon Mould, Sam Harrison and Owain Doull and Team Sky pro cyclist Luke Rowe. Matt Cosgrove, Welsh Cycling performance director, said, "We have selected a team that is led by strong experienced riders, who have achieved at the highest level of international competition. "They are supported by a large number of talented young riders who have demonstrated their ability to perform on the world stage. We are looking forward to competing at the Commonwealth Games this summer in Glasgow."
