Goytre - 3

Bridgend Street - 0

SECOND-placed Goytre welcomed third-placed Bridgend Street to Plough road in a crucial game where defeat for either side would entail an end to their campaign for promotion from Welsh League Division Three.

Both sides started nervously with neither side able to hit a rhythm due to the importance of the game.

The change in pace came after 20 minutes when Luke Prosser's presence up top began to rattle the Street centre backs who lost their cool and began to give away free kicks in their own half.

The opening goal came right on the stroke of half time after some good work down the right saw the ball played in to Luke Prosser who took a touch and was fouled by the visitor's centre back.

Prosser dusted himself down and slammed the penalty home to give Goytre the lead.

The second half was a much more open affair but the game was effectively put to bed 65 minutes in after some deft interplay with Prosser enabled Calum Miles to cooly slot home Goytre's second.

Miles, Simon Truman and Carl Evans played exceptionally well and dominated the central midfield battle consistently, breaking up play and denying Street any possession.

The back four also performed admirably, limiting the chances to the Bridgend's central attackers who were there best performers on the day.

Prosser continued to cause problems in the air and Bridgend struggled to deal with Corey Jenkins's pace down the left hand side.

Street's discipline started to waiver with some poor tackles flying in. With this in mind Goytre rang the changes ahead of another massive game on Saturday against promotion rivals Pontypridd.

Rhys Williams, Richie Jeremiah and Mike Pritchard were all given game time and it was Williams who claimed Goytre's third after a great header from a corner on the 85th minute sealed Plough Road the points.
