Wernddu Golf Club held their annual presentation evening last Friday. It was a great turn out and a thoroughly enjoyable night was had by all.
The prizes were presented by Club Captain Mr Christo Steyn and vice Captain Mr Brian Lewis. They were accompanied by many of the club’s trophy sponsors who as well as kindly donating trophies, also took the time out to award the winners and runners up with their prizes.
The new club champion for 2015 is Mr Jonathan Thomas; he was presented with the ‘Watkins Family Shield,’ by the president of the club Mr Graham Watkins, his wife Glenis and their three granddaughters.
Jonathan who has been playing at Wernddu since he was a young boy was also runner up in the two day cup competition with best gross score, and along with his doubles partner Sam Scarisbrick won the 2015 Gents doubles competition. The runners up were Les Williams and Gary Burgess.
The 2015 club champion runner up was Robbie Whistance, who was one of the first club champion winners way back in 1998, he also had this year’s best gross score in strokeplay competitions.
The best gross score in the two day cup winner was Mr Mark McAlpine whom has had a good year, also winning Cock of the North with partner Kevin Buck, and having runner up in the two day cup competition with best nett score, the winner of which is a up and coming junior Mr Callum Joyce.
Mixed doubles winners were Mrs Kay Blackwell and her partner, another young up and coming junior Mr Cameron Powell with Mrs Lyn Gardner and Mr Tony Jones as runners up.

Stewart Wenham Trophy (Presented by Stewart Wenham) Runner up - Sean Pope, Winner - Jeff Dyke. Andrew Goldsworthy Cup (Presented by Mr Andrew Goldsworthy) Runners up - Joseph Hill and Bradley Daniels, Winner Christo Steyn and Chris Sullivan. Presidents Cup (Presented by Mr Graham Watkins) Runners up - Dicky Merchant, Winner - Chris Sullivan. Winter League Runner Up - Mark McApline, Winner - Joseph Hill. Summer League Runner up - Bob Whistance, Winner - Mark McAlpine. Len Webb Trophy (Presented by Mr Len Webb). Runners up - John O’ Brien and Glyn Bram, Winners - Rob Williams and Trevor Smith. Derek Howells Shield (Presented by Miss Frankie Watkins) Runner up - Rob Williams, Winner Nigel Howells. Lyn Davies Plate (Presented by Mrs Kay Davies) Runner up - Alex Maloney, Winner - Sam Boulter.
