Abergavenny Women - 3
Briton Ferry Ladies - 0
FOLLOWING on from their stunning victory at Swansea last weekend Abergavenny were fully aware that they needed a repeat occurrence against newly promoted Briton Ferry at Pen-y-Pound.
The ladies took a while to settle down and a couple of missed chances encouraged the opposition who were growing in confidence as the half continued.
Opportunities came and went. Lyndsey Davies fired over whilst Laura Davies shot wide. Abergavenny’s midfield led by captain Ceri Hudson gained control and it looked only a matter of time before the home team scored.
A nasty looking knee injury to left wing Lauren Boyd just before half-time saw Naomi Cook come on for her Abergavenny debut.
The second-half saw Abergavenny come out of the blocks quickly and it was no surprise when after 55 minutes Sian Bull opened the scoring with a well-placed header.
This settled the nerves and Aber began to knock the ball around with player of the match Abigail Powell seeing lots of possession on her 50th premier league appearance.
With 15 minutes on the clock, Naomi Cook scored a fine debut goal whilst Laura Davies completed the scoring late on to seal the points as Aber’s fine start to the campaign continues.
