Cwmamman Utd FC - 2
TOWN ran out 3-2 winners when they last met Cwmamman’s Grenig Park, and with two excellent results behind them were hopeful of another result against the the Amman Valley side.
The visitors, who still have an outside chance of promotion, struck first on 18 minutes when Ashley Curtis netted with a fine strike that gave Town’s keeper James Aurelious no chance.
Town’s attack was sporadic, and on the stroke of half-time Cwmamman’s Samuel Harrison broke through the defence and coolly picked his spot to give his side a comfortable interval lead, leaving Town with a mountain to climb.
At the start of the second-half Town enjoyed their best spell going close on three occasions, but when Curtis blasted in a shot which cannoned off Town’s upright, the warning signs remained evident.
Town used all three substitutes to liven up affairs but try as they might they could not breech Cwmamman’s defence, and it was the visitors who claimed the points to take fourth in the table.
Town travel to Aberdare on Saturday (2.30pm) whilst Town’s reserve side, who were without a fixture on Saturday play their final game of the season away at Ton Pentre (2.30pm).
