WITH Abergavenny Town’s Welsh League Division Two match away at Pontardawe and the Youth’s match away at Llantwit Fadre both postponed because of waterlogged pitches, the spotlight fell on Town’s reserve side and their fixture against league newcomers Pontyclun.

Town were able to give a debut to new signing Daniel Hartland drafted in from the now defunct Brynmawr AFC and he wasted no time in getting on to the scoresheet along with Lloyd Walker, but it was Mike Davies who took the honours with his four goal contribution as Town start to hit form. They travel to Dinas Powys on Saturday knowing that a win will see them leap-frog their hosts into fifth place in the league table.

Meanwhile Town’s first team, who still hold second place in the league table, resume action at Pen-y-Pound on Saturday, entertaining Tremorfa based, Bridgend Street (2pm) in a second versus fifth tussle, with Town seeking revenge for their narrow 2-1 reversal at Tremorfa on the opening day of the season.
