Abergavenny Rhinos Junior Football Club wrote their name into the history books on Sunday when they won their first ever title.
After a storming 4-0 win against a Monmouth team who were level-pegging on points with Rhinos going into the game, the Under13 Blacks were crowned champion of the Monmouthshire league with two games still remaining.
Mason Brice opened the scoring in a very tight first half. Brice was a constant danger and scored another fine goal, making his tally to date, 19 for the season.
Brice also assisted with a sublime chipped through ball over the Monmouth defence for Jack Williams to score his 19th goal. The flowing move started with a crunching Ellis Owens tackle on the Rhinos’ 18 yard box.
Ollie South took the other goal in what was Monmouth’s heaviest defeat this season.
The Rhinos also have the league cup final to look forward to when they face Undy on May 5.
The club has a busy couple of months on the cards. Alongside their visit to Abergavenny’s twin town Beaupreau FC they will be staging the hugely popular junior football festival On June 16 which attracts junior players from far and wide.
