Pontardawe Town FC -3

ABERGAVENNY Town were unlucky to finish as losers in a seesaw game at a sun-bathed Pen-y-Pound Stadium last Saturday.

Pontardawe were first to take the lead when the speedy Declan Evans broke free ending his solo run with a spectacular shot past ‘keeper Pearce. Their lead lasted eight minutes before Aaron Norman equalised with a shot from a tight angle.

Pontardawe edged ahead again in controversial fashion, when Corey Saunders netted, with Town, for the second week running, claiming offside. The visitors held their lead going in to the interval break

Halfway through the second half Town were level again through Curtis Methven and this time it was Pontardawe’s turn to complain as his effort looked suspiciously offside.

As the game entered the final quarter it took a foul to halt the lively Evans and from the floated free kick Liam Griffiths’ perfectly placed header gave Pearce, who had produced a string of fine saves, no chance, as the visitors claimed the lead for the final time.

Town are without a fixture on Saturday but the reserves begin their campaign at home to Croesyceiliog (2.20pm).
