ABERGAVENNY Town believed they had solved the problem of their missing goalkeepers by signing a replacement midweek.

However, when the new man withdrew at the last moment their plans were plunged into turmoil.

Into the breech, and someone with no mean goalkeeping ability stepped forward - Town’s in form striker, Dan Jenkins.

Yet this re-shuffle meant Town’s main attacking force was blunted in their match against Llantwit Major.

The first-half was a quiet affair, with neither side able to get on top. This trend continued in the second half.

Jenkins proved his worth with a brilliant fingertip save and Town almost won the game late on but blasted over the bar when a goal seemed certain.

Llantwit who arrived at Pen-y-Pound with a 100% record seemed happy to settle for a point, and in the circumstances so did the Town.

On Saturday Town travel to the Rhondda to take on AFC Porth, ahead of their Welsh Cup First Round tie against local rivals, Panteg at Pen-y-Pound on October 7.

Meanwhile Town’s reserve side went down 0-5 away at Bridgend Street.
