Llantwit Major FC - 1
Abergavenny Town FC - 0
ON an extremely heavy and soft pitch, Town failed to achieve any consistency in their performance or score any goals against Llantwit Major FC.
Without the influential Dan Jenkins up front, Abergavenny lacked real punch. However, with 10 minutes gone, Sean Feeley was unfortunate not to open the scoring for the visitors when his shot beat the keeper but went just wide of the goal.
Llantwit gradually began to get the upper hand and pressurised hard, forcing several good saves from Tom Indge in the Town’s goal.
On 40 minutes this pressure paid off. Town failed to clear their line and Robert Jones struck to send Llantwit in with the half-time advantage.
Town came out for the second-half and immediately took the game to the visitors.
A town free kick from 25 yards out took a wicked deflection and forced an excellent save from Landsdown in the home goal.
As the heavy pitch began to dictate play, both teams began to ring the changes and bring on fresh legs.
However it was Llantwit who held their slender lead to rise to fifth place in the league with a four point advantage on Town who remain in ninth place.
Meanwhile Town’s Reserve side’s seven match winning streak came to an abrupt end when they suffered a comprehensive 6-0 defeat away to Treharris .
On Saturday Town are away to West End FC from Swansea, whilst the Reserves host runaway league leaders Cardiff Met Uni Reserves at Pen-y-Pound. Kick-off is at 2pm.
