SUN stopped play last week, as Ardal South East games involving Abergavenny Town, Goytre and Blaenavon Blues were postponed because of new FAW guidelines on 'Hard Ground & Drought Conditions'.

Other local leagues played on regardless, with Clydach Wasps suffering two Gwent Premier top tier defeats, a 1-0 midweek home loss to Pentwynmawr Athletic followed by 6-1 clattering at Sifil in Newport on Saturday, where they went in front after 10 minutes and led until the 51st minute.

Ben Rogers gave them the lead at the weekend, but Sifil's leveller was followed by more goals on 55, 65, 79, 88 and 89 as Wasps ran out of steam.

Nantyglo secured their first GP1 point in midweek with a 4-4 draw away to Pontnewydd United though, coming back from 2-0 down to lead 4-2 through goals from Jack Watkins (two), Hadlee Davies and Tom Dance before being pegged back.

Watkins scored again just after the break on Saturday to make it 1-1 at home to Albion Rovers.

But a dramatic finale saw the visitors score right on 90 minutes and make it 3-1 five minutes into added time, before Callum Jayne brought it back to 3-2 with virtually the last kick.

Brynmawr FC won 1-0 away to Machen in midweek thanks to a 32nd-minute Jack Smith goal.

But they were 'extremely disappointed' at Cwmcarn Athletic's decision "not to fulfil' Saturday's home fixture.

"Our players, coaches, volunteers and everyone involved with the club put a huge amount of time and effort into preparing for fixtures, and we believe that commitment should be met with the same level of respect from opposing clubs," they posted.

"We apologise to our supporters who were expecting to see the team in action today."

Saturday will hopefully see Abergavenny away to Penygraig United in the Welsh Cup, while Goytre visit Pill and Clydach Wasps host Cwmaman.

League games include Lliswerry v Blaenavon, Brynmawr v Llanhilleth, Panteg v Nantyglo, Crickhowell v Thornwell R&W and Newbridge v Usk.
