IT was all systems go for Nantyglo as strikers Ross Hancock and Alan Elmore reached club scoring milestones to secure a 4-2 win away to Newport's Alway on Saturday in Gwent Premier One.

Alway went in front on 21 minutes but Glo hit back to lead 2-1 at half-time through strikes from Jack Watkins (26) and Hadlee Davies (45+2).

The hosts levelled 10 minutes into the second period, but two minutes after coming on as a sub on 63 minutes, Elmore in his 20th consecutive Glo season fired his 150th goal for 3-2.

And there were more celebrations when Hancock reached a century of goals to secure the points with a fourth two minutes from normal time.

Elsewhere, Abergavenny Town crashed out of the FAW Amateur Trophy 2-0 to Cardiff Corinthians at Penypound on Friday night.

It was goalless at half-time in the first round clash, but the Ardal South West visitors took the lead on 58 minutes through Thierry Otu.

And he then turned provider for Mackenzie Biggs to double the lead on 72 minutes to secure the city side's place in the draw.

Aber's neighbours Goytre made it through 1-0 at home to South Wales Alliance League outfit Cogan Coronation though, Lewis Iles setting up Dylan Owen-Davies for his first goal for them on 60 minutes.

Meanwhile, Ardal South East rivals Blaenavon Blues, who visit Goytre's Plough Road ground this Friday night (September 11), secured a league point with a 0-0 draw at Abercarn United, but will be kicking themselves that it wasn’t three.

A Matt Burns first half penalty was easily saved by the home keeper, before the follow up was blocked.

Abercarn were then unlucky with an effort and had a big shout for a handball in the box just before the break

But an end-to-end second half saw the best chance fall to Bailey Perry as the Blues No 10 forced a great save from the Abercarn keeper.

Gwent Premier 2 outfit Usk Town went through to the third round of the Gwent County Motors Cup in midweek, producing a shock away win over higher-ranked Clydach Wasps.

They were unlucky not to win in normal time after goals from Griffin Morgan on 22 and 80 minutes put them 2-0 up, only for Wasps to level with two last gasp strikes from Mike Randall and Colin Evans.

But the Green Army then kept their nerve to win the penalty shoot out 4-2.

Wasps were also beaten 4-0 at home by Marshfield in the Gwent Premier top tier on Saturday and are pointless at the bottom after four games.

The Newport outfit led 2-0 at the break and added a third 10 minutes into the second period before sealing the deal a minute into injury time.

But the football boot was firmly on the other foot at Brynmawr United on Friday night as they ran out 4-0 winners over Lucas Cwmbran to go top of Gwent Premier One.

Jack Williams set up Rob McKenzie to make it 1-0 on 27 minutes before Liam Davies doubled the lead three minutes after half-time.

And two goals in three minutes from Harvey Miles (78) and Williams (81) secured the points.

But after cup glory, Usk Town were downed 3-0 at Chepstow's Thornwell R&W on Saturday, and are still looking for their first league win at the bottom of GP2.
