Abergavenny Town FC Under 16s maintained their 100 percent home record with a 7-1 victory against Caldicot at Lower Meadow on Sunday.

The first half saw Abergavenny take a 3-0 lead, with two goals from Sam Jones and a goal from Josh James.

Caldicot replied by scoring directly from a free kick with a superb strike to beat goalkeeper Dylan Watkins.

Despite being ill all week, Watkins didn’t let the team down and hauled himself off his sick bed to play. He made a number of excellent saves and never looked like being beaten all game, apart from the free kick.

Abergavenny controlled the match in the second half and sealed victory with another goal from Josh James, two goals with pinpoint shots from Eddie Watkins and a bullet header from Brad Daniels.

The boys are pictured wearing their new kit, sponsored by The Trade Centre Wales, together with club secretary Huw Bowden and head coach Peter Simmonds. The game was refereed by Morgan Stark, one of the young coaching team helping Simmonds this season.
