Briton Ferry Llansawel - 2

Abergavenny Women - 2

Fighting for survival and having made several late signings, Briton Ferry were always going to prove tough opposition for the Abergavenny Women, and so it proved.

Despite making a bright start, Aber failed to put away any chances created early on and were punished after 25 minutes when the hosts took the lead.

Worse was to follow as Erin Jay Potter gave away a penalty late on in the first-half, which despite a good attempt from Charlotte Hastings in goal, was easily dispatched.

Not the best of halves for Abergavenny, but after some words of wisdom at the break they came out fighting in the second. Player of the match captain Ceri Hudson scored a 20 yard screamer which breathed new life into the game.

Lauren Boyd could’ve levelled things up almost immediately but saw her effort go inches wide. With 25 minutes left on the clock it was Laura Boyd who made it 2-2 with a speculative effort which deceived the keeper.

With a draw no good to either side both went looking for a winner. Kate Jeremiah and Lyndsey Davies looked the most likely to score but were thwarted on several occasions late on. Briton Ferry also looked threatening but couldn’t find the killer blow which would’ve given them hope in their relegation battle. When the final whistle blew it was a case of points shared and a fair result.
