Abergavenny Women - 5
Rhyl Ladies - 0
ON a bitterly, cold November afternoon, Abergavenny Women steamed into their visitors from Rhyl and dominated from the kick-off.
Just two minutes in, a superb cross from Kate Jeremiah found goal machine Lyndsey Davies who fired home for Aber to take the early advantage.
Eight minutes later it was exactly the same combination and the same result as Davies doubled the lead.
Forced to regroup, a shell-shocked Rhyl kept their heads up and went for goal, only to be denied by a fine save from Grace Thomas Parr from close range.
The third goal was always going to be the crucial one and on the 35 minute mark a thunderbolt from Davies was well saved by Rhyl’s keeper, but the ball fall to left winger Alana Murphy who chested it over the line to give her side a 3-0 lead at the break.
In the second-half the visitors came out fighting and applied the pressure, which was soaked up superbly by the Aber Ladies.
A fantastic save from Thomas Parr at full stretch denied Rhyl the hope of a goal.
Welsh international Amy Thrupp worked tirelessly throughout and deserved her goal when it came with 15 minutes on the clock.
Goal number five came just before the final whistle and saw Lyndsey Davies complete her hat-trick.
Player of the match Kate Jeremiah was a constant threat on the right and was supplied superbly all afternoon by the midfield duo of Gabi Hughes and Ceri Hudson.
All in all, another fine display from the Abergavenny Women outfit who now face the prospect of a tricky tie away at Penybont next weekend.
