ABERGAVENNY Town Juniors won an important game away to Undy Under 13s in the Monmouthshire Junior Football League last Sunday.

Undy have enjoyed a very good season so far and had won the fixture at Abergavenny earlier in the season 2-1.

The game started quite even with chances being created at either end.

As the match progressed, the strength of the Town’s midfield started to shine through.

After a very tight 50 minutes, debutant Jack Skelton scored a winning goal after a rebound from a fierce shot from Harvey Barrier which the goalkeeper had partially saved.

Alfie Bailee in goal for the Town was again in fine form with a solid display.

Down the flanks, Jack Mccarthy and Will Jones caused problems all day creating chances. On another day, the scoreline could have been higher with great chances for Jackson Thomas as well. Defensively, Joe Seaton, Harrison Marshall, Ben Morgan, Oliver Evans and Will Jones were solid throughout dealing with all of the Undy Pressure.

This Sunday, the team host Chepstow in an important fixture at Pen-Y-Pound stadium which will determine the third placed team in the league.

After the game, Assistant Coach Tom Jones said how proud he was for the efforts of the team that has had a fantastic season to finish in a very respectable position in the League. He also thanked Anthony A. Davies and Todds Security for their continuing support for the team.

The Season ends on March 31 with a home tie against Garden City. Preparations for the new season will commence in April with weekly training. New players are always welcome.
