Abergavenny Women - 7

WITH no league games this weekend Abergavenny travelled to Hereford to face a team flying high at the top of their league.

The match was an opportunity to give some of the youngsters a game. The starting 11 contained seven teenagers, including 16-year-old Estonian international Annabel Jaar who is in Wales for 10 months on an education exchange trip.

In a very competitive first 45 minutes the only goal came not long after kick-off in from right winger Becky Lane.

Abergavenny dominated but couldn’t add to their lead before the break.

The second-half saw several changes. Lyndsey Davies came on and she scored four goals in just 20 minutes.

Aber’s youngest player 15-year-old Eliza Atkins hit home a deserved strike and it was apt that Hereford born Laura Davies completed the scoring on her own patch.

Special mention must also be made of another player joining the Aber Women from Herefordshire, left back Sian Bull who looks a tremendous prospect with a very bright future.

Manager Richie Jeremiah was pleased with all his young players and has some selection issues to face ahead of the team’s trip to Port Talbot on Sunday.
